In treatment-specific bodywork, a targeted area of dysfunction is identified, and the goal is to reset, remodel and restore the soft tissue to create a physical change leading to recovery. Techniques, such as, ‘shearing’ to free up muscles from one another, ‘compression’ and ‘cross fiber friction’ to increase circulation and break up adhesions, are a part of this process.

Also, communication is essential to help guide me and monitor the client, as well as for the client to express how they are feeling through the process. Some discomfort may occur because pain receptors are activated during the treatment. However, working within my client’s tolerance level is a priority. This process can require time, and patience, as we journey together on the road to recovery.
